Bunbury Cup goes Cashless with RFID

Another RFID enabled event for the Cashless Events team as the Bunbury Cup (Sunday March 10) went cashless for a third straight year.

Cashless Events RFID payment transaction technology gave punters the ability to pre-load funds directly to their wristband when arriving at the Cup Day, helping save time and delivering a more streamline event experience. 

With over 30 bar and food staff with multiple locations, Cashless Events RFID payment technology helped speed up the purchase process for the thousands of patrons attending the Cup day, while also providing valuable real-time data on the spending behaviour of patrons throughout the event.

Having RFID cashless transactions for a third-year running has given the Bunbury Turf Club the opportunity to easily compare turnover and ticketing data to previous years , delivering custom data insights including customer, staff and general event behaviour and much more throughout the Race Round.


A cashless payments solution on-site allows your vendors to process transactions with increased speed and security.

Prior to the event, attendees load funds to their ‘digital wallet’ which is then connected to an RFID chip for use on-site (usually in the form of a wristband or plastic card). Once at the event, attendees can also then ‘top-up’ their account at one of the designated stations on-site, or via the mobile platform.

When purchasing food, drink or merchandise on-site, attendees tap their RFID chip on the reader at each vendor stand to make payment. Funds from their digital wallet are transferred in real-time to complete the transaction ad this is tracked against the specific vendor for settlement post-event.
